I'm interested in knowing what some of you did with your CC music. I have several tapes that I have kept all these years and as the years go by I have listened to them less and less. I guess it is to the point now that I don't ever listen to them. So I was thinking I would get rid of them and as I started looking through them I got this feeling in my gut that it might be a mistake. So I thought I would ask you to find out what you did and if you think I would be making the wrong choice to get rid of this music.

I still have my CC tapes and they hold just as much anointing as they ever did. Some from the 70's are a little "hoot in nanny" and not much to worship to, but many later ones are wonderful.

I store them in our motor home (it has a tape deck) and play them on vacations.

Acts 17:2 Then Paul, as his custom was, went to them, and for three Sabbaths reasoned with the from the scriptures

Acts 17:16 While Paul was waiting for them in Athens, he was greatly distressed to see that the city was full of idols. 17 So he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and the God-fearing Greeks, as well as in the marketplace day by day with those who happened to be there.

I've had a hard time getting rid of a lot of CC music that I don't listen to anymore, not sure it would be a mistake for me to part with it. I have got rid of a good amount. There is constantly good new music coming out, in my mind the time is always now to serve the Lord and now always has something new to listen to. It's really up to you if it still appeals to you to some extent then keep it if not then it wouldn't be the end of the world if you got rid of it. There is nothing sacred about, but it might have some nostalgia in it for you, there might be some of that in it for me.

Welcome to the board by the way Mr (or Mrs) 1984.

I don't get rid of ANY of my music.  Why would I want to get rid of it?

I got rid of ALL of my Chapel music.  Why would I want to keep it?

For what it's worth, other than the snippets I've listened to here at this website, I have not listened to Chapel music since I left in the late 80s. When I left the church, I wanted nothing to do with any of it. I finally began to miss the depth of fellowship as well as the quality of worship, and that is why I was so glad to find CCG. Though, at times, the strong flavor of CCBTC mind-set/army boot heart-stomping has caused me to question why did I even bother. This is a new day and God has never left us nor forsaken us, not matter where we are today. Today is the day of salvation...He is restoring my soul as well as the souls of many others, and I know for certain that the dry bones are being raised up from off the valley floor!

Hi Katie,

Good to hear from you. I think you are right it seems somewhat apparent to me as well, I'm amazed at what has been happening in my life (I've still got plenty of rough spots but despite that lots of genuine good is stirring in my heart from a spiritual perspective). I have to step back though, not make any major predictions and let things play out as they will. It sure is a necessity though, we've got to find a way to beat the rocks to it. Take care ...

Well, as corny as some of the music sounds, I like it.  In fact in my lifegroup on Thursday we listened to "Jesus Holy Name of Love" by Keith Johnson and talked about the words which are rich theologically in making Jesus our Ultimate Pleasure and Treasure while we are in the world.  I find as a Christian Hedonist that many of the CC songs are very much that, finding joy and all things good in God/Jesus alone.

I have kept most of the music. The music I got rid of were tapes that were heavily connection-type music where I felt the words were leaning too much toward the connection relationships. In other words, horizontally vs vertically. I have put some of it on CD, but my tape deck died before I got it all copied and have never pursued purchasing another tape deck to complete the work. I know I should before the tapes die and becomes too late.

If you have a desktop PC with a sound card like a genaric sound blaster card.  What you need is a line in hole on the back.  Go to a pawn shop and pick up a tape deck if you do not own one.  I sent $20 on mine.  Connect the line out to the line in.  Use recording software you use to burn CD's or DVD's such as Roxeo or Nero to capture the sound to MP3 files.  I used a $39 dollor program that made a new file each time there was silence on the tape.  Six songs equal six mp3 files.   I labeled the songs IE GIS summer 1984 song one, song two and then copied to my phone, my mp3 player.  It is easy to do.

Thanks for the tip Steve.  I found help online to do this too.   I still have a workable tape deck so I hope to begin soon.

Funny.....a tape deck??? "What is that?" my kids ask. Has it been that long? I found some tapes still in the wrapper a couple of weeks ago. I think they were Sony 90 min tapes. I wonder what I had planned for them.
