Take opportunities to share Jesus with folks

Well once again I felt an urge to share how things are going and maybe get a little socializing taking place here on the Gordy Board.

I have been attending a fellowship on Friday nights that has discontinued and many who were attending it have gone to attend the International House Of Prayer In Federal Way. That has become an up and coming ministry in the Seattle area. I attended once when they were in their inception but it did not impress me at the time as something I was interested in, they have grown since then. I am not looking for a church so I have no motivation to go see what they are about...maybe later.

I worked Saturday a half day and the weather here has been nice, so we barbecued outside on the fire pit and had a fire after wards. It gets cool after the sun goes down so the fire was nice.

Sunday (today) I got out in the yard and cleaned up around. The weather was cool but nice and I worked carrying things to put away and cleaned up messes and pulled weeds. I planted some more parsley to the existing parsley bed. I add it to my soups and other dishes, it grows easily. I went into the garden and pulled up the dried out broccoli plants and composted them. I see the mole has stayed in my neighbors yard this spring..he must know I bought traps to use this year..moles are so smart.

I feel kind of sluggish. like I lack energy but I just go out and work though it, this usually happens in my off season. I am determined this year to get long standing projects done and getting out early in the year is the key. They boys are not going to have their above ground pool so we will be tearing that out this year. The oldest has chickens this year with his girl friend, I dump grass in their pen as I walk by and they usually thank me. All our boys are at SPU and live at home, they study all the time.

I have filled holes in the road the last few days on our private road. I just dumped old half hardened motar in them and it works pretty well,(your welcome to come look) I always have old mortar left over from tuck point jobs on chimneys. I used to fix the road with asphalt but this is a quick fix. One visitor hassled me about not putting up cones when we fixed the road..I just apologized to him..we go quite a kick out of that Smiley Cones...too funny! He was inconvenienced like one minute.

I have to get into my garage and into my storage sheds, I did get one shed cleaned up last year..I have to get rid of more "stuff"..I am a collector and so I have stuff and more stuff. I have a lot of contractor tools also and every year I build better places to store everything so everything has a place. For instance I have three contractor wheel barrows and two plastic carts and probably 8 shovels, and a pitch fork for every occasion...stuff.

I got a bunch of free railroad ties last year and need to install the last half of them, replacing old ones.., we have a pile of wood in our driveway, the list goes on Wink

So what have you been doing? Go ahead brag a little, share what you have done or projects you hope to get accomplished this spring/summer. Let us hear from you even if it is a line or two.

See ya next time then

--Worked Sat. and was glad to have work.
---Last week went to some services at NHWC which has changed its name to Overcomer's Covenant Church.  Joe Parker gave an inspirational message on Wed night. On Tuesday the band Bluetree ministered. Bluetree is from Ireland and although I am not really ministered to by rock music I liked them. Their lead singer had a very clear voice which was understandable above the din of 3 electric guitars. The song words were the best I've heard. And several songs really ministered to me. All in all I would gladly hear them again.
---On Monday Rabbi Lapin spoke from a Jewish standpoint on finances & OT themes. While he is not a Christian like Dr. Laura he has some wise things to say. Of course, Christ is the key to understanding the OT and someone who still has a veil over himself has a limited viewpoint.
---You would be edified (I hope) to hear they ordained several from amongst us on Wed. night. Nick & Jo Lembo, Brenda Frank (daughter of Zeke & Nancy Rice), and Dave & Bonnie Carpenter. The ordinations were more formal so to speak and I believe more honoring to those involved. If a church puts minor emphasis on it the implication is that it is a minor event. When the church places honor it respects those who have come to be recognized as having God's calling & anointing. It is my opinion that more honor needs to be given those who are answering God's call. They were also called to publically commit to honoring God and living up to God's call.

Brother Joel J,

Can you help me out here? Out here in flyover country we go to IHOP for good pancakes.  Are you guys there on the coast meeting at IHOP for breakfast fellowship?

Just wondering what's happening in the city!

Well Joel J., we lost them all this year.  Stink Hawks, The Farve Show, Peyton Manning!  Three Strikes!!
Are we out yet?

Here's one.  Denominational, Non-Denominational, The Moves(ie. Jimmy Swagert, Brannem, Baker, Kansas City, Toronto, Pensacola, IHOP, et. al.).  Another three strikes?

Not! Cuz Jesus died for all men's sins.

Just Thinking,

When the prayer fellowship first came to the Northwest there was a threat from the pancake IHOP that they would sue if they used the initials...I never heard how it turned out.

I enjoyed the interview with the Superbowl QB, he seemed like a real nice kid, I am happy for him.

Just typing so you have something to read..there is still time to share with us..we have opened the pulpit up for those who drop by the middle of the week.

Went out on a "emergency" chimney call today..out to Enumclaw 70 mile round trip. I shut down the soup I was building and headed out,
They guy was home with his two year old. The chimney only took a few minutes to sweep and his wife was not yet home with the money. He was sharing how his wife was sick and no doctors would treat her and they turned her into CPS for spite.

I witnessed to the kid and he knew he need to get right with God. He was using the F word in front of his daughter and going off about the doctors.
I flat out rebuked him and said if I were his doctor I would have done the same thing they did..you sound reprobate talking as you are. He was totally embarrassed and admitted he has gone down hill the last  so many of years. (He was an open kid who I discerned would take the rebuke or I would have never done it..it is not my norm)

Sure enough his wife comes in and she is high as a duck on Meth probably...she is running to and fro and acting all weird, hyper like. So he leaves to get money and I witness to her and she is backslid and of course not to open being high and all. She is cute as a bug so he probably does whatever she says.

So she has him snowed about her drug use I guess..he comes back and pays me cash and we say our goodbyes.

So there is a typical witness..people who need the Lord and are making wrong choices.

He promised me he was going to live right and bring his daughter up to know the Lord. He has been thinking about it lately.

No big story just a day in the life...........

Lanny,

I have not attended this church and really only know about it from what is said on this "Gordy Board" as Joel J. calls it.  It seems to me that NHWC; now OCC; changes it's name often.  I have read that name changing is a modern day church growth; ie. "Purpose Driven", emergent, etc.; gimmick.  Present company included; ie. NHWC and all your former students and beloved church bretheren; what do you think is happening in the church with the many attempts to grow church attendance and have revival; ie. IHOP, Pensacola, "Corn Field Revival", etc.?
