OMG - this is an outrage. A scandal of unprecedented proportions. Madame Pelosi should demand a Congressional hearing on the this 40+ year old story. This proves what an evil, nasty, contemptable piece of white trash Sarah Palin is. Thank you bitter for bringing this to our attention.

Ok, but getting past the hyperbolic sarcasm and accusations of communist tendencies on my part, Does anyone know of Americans crossing the border to seek health care in Canada? I have heard of seniors going across for prescription drugs.

had you left the Palin reference out your question may have had some validity, however, just like Joy Behar, Keith Olderman and all the other left attack dogs not attacking Sarah on a daily basis is like a day without sunshine.

Wow. Does that save you much money after travel, or do you just make a vacation out of it? I paid huge money this summer to save a crown that had a 30 year old root canal. It's like the old gag about the guy that is auctioning young George Washington's original hatchet. Of course some one has replaced the handle......and the blade.

I did not attack Mrs. Palin. I am glad her brother got the care that he needed and applaud her parents for doing the right thing. I added the Palin reference because it brings this subject to the public for discussion. In fact Mrs. Palin herself alluded to the irony of her famous and frequent criticism of publicly funded health insurance plans. The Palin Family committed no crime in seeking health care across the border and most would consider it the right thing to do under the circumstances. Thus my question.

A root canal with post is 300 bucks, add a crown for another 200. We had 3200 dollars worth of work done 2 years ago which would have cost 10,000 here I imagine. The dentist was living in Yuma, we would watch him go over the boarder when he was finished at night, he looked white, yet was Mexican. We have not had work done in two years when we were down there but would get any new problems fixed when we go back. We usually go to Arizona every year.

So the dentist lives in USA and works for 32 cents on the $ in Mexico? There must be thousands of Americans crossing over for these deals.

Yes, most of the Arizona retirees who do not have dental go over the boarder, they are lined up by the hundreds coming back some days. The town we go to below Yuma is as small as old Burien and has over 200 dentists I would guess. Algodones Mexico; near Yuma Snowbird heaven. My dentist was probably trained in Mexico and lives most of the year deep into Mexico and only comes to the boarder during the winter for the big tourist bucks, he probably wants to live in Mexico with family and such. He probably has servants there, etc.

Just another view of this, is that now many Americans have dental coverage included in their employee benefits package. It can also be included in private, or self-employed insurance plans.
Prior to having dental insurance, I typically visited a dentist rarely, or in emergencies. Now, with dental insurance, I visit my dentist's office religiously every 6 months. My insurance covers my cleanings and x-rays. I have a fantastic hygienist, and a dentist who work with me to maintain my dental health.
Having dental insurance has actually helped me improve my dental health, and in the long run, costs far less than when problems developed in the past.
Since most dental plans include semi-annual visits, annual x-rays, and reduced costs on some dental work, it can be quite a cost savings to take advantage of these programs.
And, the greatest benefit, is maintaining dental health, and limiting dental problems.
